Alexander Pilin ,born 03.06.1952 is an artist having 10 years experience with felt and leather. Since then his exhibitions have been held in eight European countries and tales about the felt have been published. There are "A tale of felt", "A Tale of Valenki", "A Tale of Felt and Pelervo, the Giant ". Mr. Pilin is a university senior lecturer at the Department of Design (Udmurt State University, Russia), teaching decorative processing of leather and felt. I was asked to present his original felt technologies in Central Finland Arts and Crafts Institute, Petajavesi and Polytechnic Institute of Design, Lahti, Finland (2000) as well as in Textile Club, Moscow, Russia (1999). Besides, he investigates national and develops original feltmaking technologies, research Russian traditions of felt clothes, footwear and large felt mats. Mr. Pilin is a member of the Artists' Union of Russia, the Designers' Union of Russia, the International Feltmakers' Association (IFA). The Art Fashion theatre founded by Alexander Pilin 7 years ago popularise felt in choreographic performances and fashion shows.
